The Well Clinic teaches a free sexual risk avoidance program called Healthy Boundaries in central Missouri schools. See how your gift reaches local teens.

The Well Clinic offers a free sexual risk avoidance program, called Healthy Boundaries, to schools in central Missouri. It is intended for middle school and early high school students.

About the program

  • The program meets the Grade Level Equivalents set by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and is medically accurate.
  • The full program is four days long. Districts may adjust the days and topics to fit their needs.
  • Sexual risk avoidance education focuses on the whole person, teaching good decision-making and healthy relationships. It also addresses consent, sexting, pornography, sex trafficking and dating violence.

Why it matters

Sexual risk avoidance programs help teens see that healthy choices now shape a better future: finishing school, getting a job, and building a healthy, lifelong relationship. Currently 25 peer-reviewed studies indicate that students in sexual risk avoidance programs are more likely to delay sexual activity, according to WeAscend.org. The latest CDC research also indicates that most teens have not had sex.
