Our History

From a 2011 banquet to a building of our own on Southwest Boulevard, see how a group of neighbors built a free pregnancy help clinic in Jefferson City.

The Well Clinic began as the Pregnancy Help Center of Central Missouri. A group of dedicated men and women knew it was needed, knew it was wanted, and knew God was calling them to act.

How it began

The first annual banquet was held at Capital Ritz Banquet Center on October 13, 2011. That evening launched the mission of supporting women with unplanned pregnancies.

The center opened its doors on March 12, 2012, at 1011B Southwest Boulevard in Jefferson City. The local and state Knights of Columbus donated an ultrasound machine, and scans began. That technology, along with counseling and other services, has helped thousands of women choose life for their babies.

Growing to meet the need

  • March 2016: after four years, the center outgrew its first space and moved to 1760 Southridge Drive.
  • May 2018: a mobile unit was purchased to bring pregnancy tests and ultrasounds to surrounding communities, because transportation is often a challenge.
  • 2019: a Sexual Risk Avoidance education program for youth began.
  • May 29, 2020: after much prayer and a careful search, the center bought the building and grounds at 1433 Southwest Boulevard. Renovations started in June, and the offices moved on July 24.

The larger building made room to expand services, including testing for sexually transmitted infections.

Supported by you

The Well Clinic is totally supported by donations from individuals, churches and organizations. It is your financial and prayer support that makes these services possible for mothers and their babies.

Every gift gives a woman hope.

Everything The Well Clinic offers is free to the women and families it serves, because donors fund it.
